Visit the charming Tasting Room…browse wine-related gifts and sauces…relax among the cottonwoods, pond and vineyard…buy a bottle of award-winning wine to share with friends in the wine garden…send a case home as a delicious reminder of your visit to Casa Rondeña Winery.

Casa Rondeña’s winemaker, John Calvin, is a passionate wine historian who has an emotional attachment to the land near where he was born in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque. His winemaking is an outgrowth of an appreciation for the agriculture-based economy of Albuquerque’s early inhabitants in what is the oldest wine-producing region of the country. His time studying music in Spain exposed him to winemaking as well as to the music that is part of a broader cultural appreciation. The winemaker brings to his handcrafted wines a philosophy of treating wine as food and as a complement to good health.

Casa Rondeña Winery, making fine wines since 1995, welcomes visitors to their charming Tasting Room in one of several winery buildings exhibiting the Andalusian, southern Mediterranean style of architecture for which Mr. Calvin and the winery are so well recognized. Either before or after tasting their fine wines, they invite visitors to stroll through the Fermentation Room and around the grounds alongside the vineyard and perhaps enjoy a glass or bottle of wine under the portal. Strolling alongside the vineyard, they will note the Arabic influence in the arches of the windows and the green tile often used in southern Spain and northern Africa, particularly Morocco. From the front of the Tasting Room they will note the stone arches over the second story windows which are sandstone from northwestern India and are 400-500 years old.

Casa Rondeña wines have won many awards, including the top scoring Best of Show for their Serenade at the 2003 New Mexico Wine Competition. The Meritage and Cabernet Franc received medals at the 2004 Jerry Mead New World International Wine Competition in California. Their Cabernet Franc has received the top rating score of all New Mexico red wines by the Wine Spectator and USA Today recognized Casa Rondeña as one of two top wineries in New Mexico. Hugh Johnson’s Pocket Guide to Wine gives three stars out of their international four star rating to only Casa Rondeña and one other New Mexico winery.

Casa Rondeña award-winning wines include Cabernet Franc, Sangiovese, Meritage, Riesling, Sauvignon Blanc, Serenade and Gewürztraminer. Come join us!
